Nature and the Environment
Nuon promotes the protection and preservation of a healthy and natural environment. At Vereniging Natuurmonumenten we help nature in kind.
In 2000 the nature conservation association Vereniging Natuurmonumenten and Nuon laid the basis for a ten-year partnership. In this context, we realise demonstration projects for renewable energy at the estates and buildings of Natuurmonumenten.
Natuurmonumenten Projects 2006
In cooperation with Natuurmonumenten, eight new projects were realised:
- Whisper Boat Wormer & Jisperveld – electric motor
- Management Office Kwadendamme – solar panels
- Management Office Oud Reemst – heat pump and solar panels
- Management Office Ermelo – solar panels
- Special Needs Farm ’t Hofhuis in Vorden – wood-fired boiler, heating network, solar panels
- Information Centre at Tiengemeten – heat pump
- Bird Keeper’s House on the nature conservation island Griend – solar panels
- Work shed, information cart and ticket machine Zwanenwater – solar panels
Nature events for customers
To involve customers in our partnership and raise awareness of renewable energy, we organise nature events for customers. In June we issued a booklet ‘Nuon Summer Trips’, containing five trips through Natuurmonumenten estates for customers and employees. In the autumn Nuon organised the Nuon Nature Days for the second year. Customers were invited via the customer magazine to take part in excursions and activities in and surrounding joint projects of Nuon and Natuurmonumenten.
