In the past year we further expanded our expertise in the field of energy saving.

In its efforts to make the traditional energy supply more sustainable, Nuon expects a lot from energy savings. Limiting the demand for energy is an effective way of reducing the pressure on the security of supply. Energy saving in the built environment can be achieved by means of:

  • Behavioural Change;
  • Technological Innovation;
  • Constructional Measures (insulation).

In the business market we service technological innovation, constructional measures and energy awareness.

Over the past decades government and energy companies invested significant amounts in the energy awareness of consumers. In recent years substantial savings have been achieved in the consumer market thanks to simple behavioural changes, such as turning the heating down by one degree and closing the curtains to keep heat inside.

On the basis of experience and research, Nuon has in recent years come to see that most of the possible gains through behavioural change have already been achieved in the consumer market. For this reason, alongside behavioural change, the Retail Customers Division expanded its scope in 2006 to explore the opportunities for new product and services based on energy-saving technology and constructional measures.
