Vision, mission and strategy

In 2006 we reassest our vision, mission and strategy, thereby explicitly taking into account the interests of all our stakeholders.

Vision

Nuon wants to contribute to the availability of energy in the long term without society having to worry about harmful effects. For this reason, Nuon carries out its energy supply and management activities with a focus on increasing the renewability of production and supply, reliability, affordability, safety, energy saving and a high level of service.

Mission

  • We engage in the continuous delivery of gas and electricity, heating and cooling to our customers at reasonable prices and with an optimal service;
  • We aspire to deliver energy that is produced with the lowest possible environmental burden;
  • We help our customers to minimise their energy consumption and optimise their energy use;
  • We stimulate our employees to excel in their profession and in acting customer-focused;
  • We practice corporate social responsibility with regard to the energy needs of citizens;
  • We realise optimal added value to our shareholders.

Strategy

Building on the company’s vision and mission, Nuon’s strategy is aimed at growing profitably as an integrated energy company operating in the fully liberalised energy market in North-West Europe. As part of its public responsibility, the company invests continuously in order to ensure reliability of supply (quality of the grid) and of production (sufficient production capacity).

Nuon’s core strategic points are:
  1. Strengthening Nuon’s core activities. Measures taken in this regard include:
    • A substantial improvement in the quality of the operational processes, thereby helping to increase customer satisfaction;
    • An improvement of the financial performance, and the strengthening of the coherence between the company’s commercial strategy and the related portfolio of products and services;
    • A strengthening of our position in the West-European gas market;
    • Further expansion of integrated business management, with Nuon undertaking activities throughout the entire chain from production via transport to delivery.
  2. Strengthening the company’s position in the North-West European energy market, i.e. the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, by organically growing our market position and actively exploring partnerships with other market parties.
